KISS soundcheck session , Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons answered some fan questions. One of them was about the Disney+ The Mandalorian , which takes place in the Star Wars and was described by Gene Simmons as "one of the best series on TV" .

When asked what he thought of the second season of the series, Simmons promptly came to the defense of actress Gina Carano , who was fired from the production in February for comparing the political landscape of the United States to the Holocaust committed by Nazis during World War II.

“They should have kept the girl, even if she has different political views. It’s not about politics; it’s about whether you’re a good actress or not,” Simmons commented. A few minutes later, Paul Stanley – who is Jewish, as is Gene – also gave his opinion on the situation: “Look, political views… This whole cancel culture is dangerous. The idea that people can’t speak their minds. Freedom is about that. And losing your job because you had something to say – even I find that offensive – we have to keep an eye on that. Besides, I’d let her hit me.”

Carano is a defender of conservatism and, prior to the episode that led to her dismissal, had openly demonstrated her support for Donald Trump . The controversial tweet, which was deleted after the backlash, stated (transcription via Blabbermouth ):

“Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers, but by their neighbors… Even by children. Because history is edited, many people don’t realize today that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily arrest thousands of Jews, the government first made their neighbors hate them simply for being Jewish. How is that different from hating someone for their political opinions?”
