Paul McCartney releases two unreleased songs and reveals information about his new studio album

“I Don’t Know” and “Come On To Me” explore two different styles of the former Beatle

We previously reported that Paul McCartney had returned to the studio and was preparing to announce a new studio album. Now, the former Beatle has confirmed the release and released two new songs.

Titled Egypt Station , the album will be released on September 7th by Capitol Records and will feature 14 tracks, including "I Don't Know" and "Come On To Me," which were released this Wednesday, the 20th. You can listen to both songs below.

The album marks McCartney's first release since New (2013) and the 17th of his solo career. Egypt Station was recorded in three different locations: Los Angeles, California, London, and Sussex, England. Greg Kurstin ( Adele , Beck, Foo Fighters ) was responsible for producing the album, with the exception of a single song that was produced by Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic .

In a statement released to the press, the former Beatle explained that the album's name was inspired by a painting he created and carries the idea of transporting the fan on a journey with multiple destinations, exploring each song as a stop on the path to listening to and understanding the album.

“I like the words 'Egypt Station'. It reminds me of the albums we used to make… Egypt Station starts as a station at the beginning of the album and then each song is a different station. That helped us create the foundation for the songs. I imagine it's a magical place where the music came from.”
