Paul McCartney releases new solo album; listen to “McCartney III”

This album follows 2018's 'Egypt Station' and marks the third album on which he has worked completely alone.

Fifty years ago, Paul McCartney released his first solo album after the Beatles , McCartney . In it, the musician oversaw the entire process: composition, performance, recording, and production. Today, the 18th, he releases McCartney III , an album on which he also worked alone.

McCartney III is the singer's 18th solo album and follows Egypt Station , from 2018. The album features 11 tracks and, like McCartney (1970) and McCartney II (1980), presents a collection of ideas from the Beatles bassist working without third parties.

The album wasn't originally planned for release in 2020, but due to the pandemic, McCartney decided to work on the new project: "I was living in quarantine on my farm with my family and going to the studio every day," he said in a statement to the press. "I had some things I'd worked on over the last few years, and many of them I hadn't finished due to lack of time, so I started thinking about them again."
