Former Beatle to adapt It's a Wonderful Life

Paul McCartney will venture into the world of musicals for the first time in his career. The former Beatle is working on the music for the film adaptation of It's a Wonderful Life (1946).

McCartney is collaborating with Lee Hall , screenwriter of Billy Elliot and Rocketman , and Bill Kenwright . No further information has been released, but the premiere is expected in the second half of 2020.

Speaking about the new project, the musician said: “Like many of these things, it all started with an email. Bill asked if there was anything I would be willing to do. Writing a musical is something that never really interested me, but I met with Bill and Lee Hall, and after talking I found myself thinking that this could be very interesting and fun.”

The film tells the story of a small-town man who, on Christmas Eve, considers suicide after committing bank fraud and being caught.
