The book "Paul McCartney in Brazil," by musician and journalist Leandro Souto Maior , recounts the stories of the artist's visits to the country. Its release is scheduled for March 2024. Leandro's bilingual project was published by Garota FM Books , with a preface by Samuel Rosa , a blurb written by Pedro Bial , and dedicated to the memory of Beatlemania fan Lizzie Bravo .
The resources needed to produce the book are being raised through a crowdfunding campaign on Catarse. Donors will have the advantage of obtaining the book for a lower price than it will cost when it arrives in stores, and will receive rewards during the campaign, such as: a t-shirt, an eco-bag, other books, and coffee. Furthermore, by participating in the campaign, the supporter's name will appear on the list of supporters of the book.
The Paul McCartney phenomenon in Brazil
The ex-Beatle is known for being one of the few international artists who has performed in almost every region of our national territory, missing only the north. Paul reached the mark of 36 shows performed in Brazil after his last visit in 2023.
Porto Alegre, Florianópolis, Curitiba, Brasília, Belo Horizonte, Recife, Goiânia, Fortaleza, Salvador, and Cariacica are the cities outside the Rio-São Paulo axis where the artist has performed.
The book will detail stories that marked the British musician's career in the country, such as when his show at the Maracanã stadium in 1990 made it into the Guinness Book of Records after he performed for approximately 184,000 people.
From generation to generation, Sir Paul McCartney leaves his mark on the lives of his fans. It's no wonder he's always so warmly received by his admirers, fellow musicians, and the Brazilian press. With each visit, the artist-fan connection only grows stronger, along with the desire to welcome him back soon.
