Paul McCartney used Artificial Intelligence to create unreleased Beatles music.

The track is expected to be released sometime in 2023 and will officially be the band's last song.

In an interview with BBC Radio 4 , Paul McCartney revealed that he created what will be the Beatles with the help of Artificial Intelligence.

According to McCartney, the AI tool extracted John Lennon from an old demo, making it possible to use it in the new song.

The idea came from a technique used in the documentary Get Back , directed by Peter Jackson . In it, dialogue editor Emile de la Rey used Artificial Intelligence to recognize the Beatles' voices and separate them from background noise. The same process was used by Paul McCartney on tour, which allowed him to do a "duet" with John Lennon.

“[Peter Jackson] managed to extract John’s voice from a piece of cassette tape,” McCartney explains. “We had John’s voice and a piano, and he was able to separate them with AI. They tell the machine: ‘That’s the voice. That’s the guitar. Remove the guitar.’”

“When we started working on what would be the last Beatles song, it was a demo that John had, and we were able to extract it and get the pure sound through AI. Then we were able to mix the track, the way we normally do,” he concludes.

Regarding new technologies, Paul McCartney also commented that everything is "kind of scary," but also "it's the future."
