Paul Di'Anno , former vocalist of Iron Maiden , begins the recovery process from his first knee surgery, performed at the end of November with the help of an online initiative to raise money for the operation.
In a new video published by the London pub Cart & Horses , where the band played their first shows in the 1970s, Di'Anno appears lying down and doing the "bicycle" motion with his left leg.
According to Kastro Pergjoni , the pub's operations director, it's the first time "in seven or eight years" that the vocalist has managed to perform this type of movement with his member.
The musician has been using a wheelchair for several years and worried fans about the state of his legs in a photo published in September, in which he appeared with significant swelling in his limbs.
“He will soon have the procedure on his right leg as well, [this is] great progress! Please continue to help so that Paul can continue his treatments,” they asked in the post. Watch the video of Di'Anno's recovery here .
The Cart & Horses began in January of this year and has already raised £13,000 (approximately R$95,000), equivalent to 50% of the goal. The second phase of the online fundraising campaign aims to raise the remaining £15,000 to cover Di'Anno's knee surgery and recovery treatments.
