The official documentary about Paul Di'Anno, vocalist for Iron Maiden between 1978 and 1981 , has been confirmed for release in 2026, offering an in-depth look at his life, career, and personal challenges after leaving the iconic heavy metal band.
The film, titled Di'Anno: Iron Maiden's Lost Singer , is directed by Wes Orshoski, known for documentaries about Lemmy Kilmister and The Damned , and will be distributed by Cleopatra Entertainment.
The documentary already has a trailer available and is expected to premiere at European film festivals before a worldwide release on streaming services and in DVD and Blu-ray formats.
According to the production, the film shows Di'Anno's journey from his rise in the early days of Iron Maiden, to his health problems and the role of fans and supporters in his recovery, including emotional moments of reunions with bandmates and a return to the stage.
The project includes appearances by big names in metal such as James Hetfield ( Metallica ), Gene Simmons ( Kiss ), Gary Holt ( Exodus ), and bassist Steve Harris ( Iron Maiden) , highlighting Di'Anno's enduring influence on the genre and his legacy among fans and fellow musicians.
In an interview with Metal Hammer, director Wes Orshoski spoke about the long production process. “I was going to finish in a year. Paul made me believe over the phone that he would be back on his feet in a few months, and then we were going to film him on tour in South America. Then, the first time I saw him was at the entrance to Salisbury Hospital. I was in the room when the doctor said he might lose his leg. The next hour, I realized that this guy wasn't going to be back on his feet anytime soon,” he revealed.
Di'Anno: Iron Maiden's Lost Singer was completed shortly before the singer's death on October 21, 2024, at the age of 66.
