Paul Di'Anno , former vocalist of Iron Maiden , updated the public on new projects, his mental health, and thanked fans for the support shown in recent years, when admirers from all over the world organized crowdfunding campaigns to finance the surgeries needed by the singer.
During a new interview with The Metal Voice , the British musician commented on the progress of a documentary about his life, a project by Wes Orshoski, co-director and producer of the film Lemmy (2010), about the Motörhead . “I don’t really know much about it, all I do is show up and do [my part]. I’m a little bummed because I was hoping to be standing, but that didn’t happen. So, you get a sort of documentary of the highs and lows of being in a wheelchair and struggling,” commented Di’Anno. “But it will be out very soon.”
Speaking about this subject, the vocalist revealed how post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) affects his routine. “And since all this happened to me, I’ve been suffering from really severe PTSD, and it’s not good. You know, it changes your whole personality. Sometimes you’re happy and carefree, other times I’m yelling that I want to kill people. It’s not good, and that’s not me. I’m a happy and carefree person until someone annoys me, then I’ll hit you (laughs), but you know, it’s been a little difficult,” he said.
At 65 years old, the vocalist has been in a wheelchair for over six years, but underwent necessary knee surgery thanks to a fundraising effort by fans . Now the musician is in intensive treatment to regain the ability to walk . Read here to better understand the artist's health condition .
