In a recent interview with Rolling Stone , Hayley Williams confirmed that she has been meeting with longtime bandmates Taylor York and Zac Farro in the studio to begin work on Paramore .

In an email, the singer described her experience working with a band again after a five-year hiatus since After Laughter (2017), and said she was surprised to produce something they liked from the very first session. "We kept joking that from then on it would all be downhill, but thank God we've been very surprised throughout all of this," Williams said.

The lead singer of Paramore also says that she's always waiting for the moment when the band discovers they're creating something new instead of "rehashing old things," and that feeling seems to have already reached the band members.

“It’s not so much about feeling like the song is a hit, it’s more about that scary and exciting feeling that you’re venturing into uncharted territory,” he says. “That keeps you curious. We felt that right from the start this time.”

Regarding the sound, Williams said that she and York have been drawing inspiration from some of their older influences, but also assured that the group is not planning a return to emo.

“The music that inspired us in the beginning wasn’t necessarily the type of music we ended up making,” says the singer. “Our influences have always been very diverse, and this project won’t be any different. We’re still very much at the beginning, but some things have remained consistent from the start: 1) more emphasis on guitars and 2) Zac can play drums in the most Animal-esque he can.”
