Paradise Lost releases music video for 'Salvation' from new album 'Ascension'

This is Paradise Lost's first album in five years, following the acclaimed 'Obsidian' from 2020.

Paradise Lost released a new music video for the song "Salvation" this Friday, the 12th, from the band's acclaimed new album, Ascension . In an interview with Wikimetal , vocalist and founder Nick Holmes spoke about the new album Ascension .

Directed by longtime collaborator Ash Pears , this stunning and cinematic rendition of one of 2025's most haunting tracks offers further evidence of the band's unwavering creative vision, decades after the start of their legendary career.

Lead singer Nick Holmes commented on the new video:

“Salvation embraces the belief in a higher power and the search for forgiveness for a lifetime of transgressions, typically motivated by the approach of death or a significant crisis. However, the music video, considering it's Christmas, perhaps adopts a more optimistic view. It portrays the connection between two individuals committed to maintaining a beacon. A symbol they will protect until their last breath and pass on so that others may embrace it. Whether this force is ultimately good or evil will always remain a mystery.”

Produced by guitarist Gregor Mackintosh and mixed/mastered by Lawrence Mackrory , this is Paradise Lost's first album in five years, following the acclaimed Obsidian from 2020. Ascension is not only a testament to the band's longevity and relevance throughout their more than 35-year career, but also encompasses the characteristic gothic, death, and doom metal styles that fans cherish.

The new phase features the return of drummer Jeff Singer . The drummer played with the band between 2004 and 2008, recording the albums Paradise Lost (2005) and In Requiem (2007).
