Papangu – who was part of the Knotfest Brasil  2024 – announced last Friday, the 9th, that his debut album, Holoceno , will have its first official release in Brazil.

Originally released in 2021 and acclaimed by audiences and critics in Brazil and abroad, the highly anticipated reissue of the debut album features special physical editions, as well as three live tracks available in digital format.

Holoceno will be released on 180g marbled red vinyl, CD digipak, and cassette tape, exclusively by the Taioba Music . Pre-orders are now available on the Taioba Music website.

Recorded between João Pessoa and Oslo between 2019 and 2020, the album features contributions from Norwegian drummer Torstein Lofthus ( Elephant9, SHINING ), saxophonist Benjamin Mekki Widerøe ( Seven Impale ), as well as Paraíba musicians Uaná Barreto and Luís Souto Maior . The drum recording took place in Norway and was mixed by Jørgen Smådal Larsen , with mastering by James Plotkin .

The Brazilian progressive rock band is known not only for its blend of sludge metal, progressive rock, stoner rock, and zeuhl, but also for its Brazilian rhythms. They evoke names like Mastodon, King Crimson, Magma , and the regional psychedelia of the 70s.

Currently, Papangu is preparing for its first European tour, scheduled for August. In September, the group will enter a Berlin studio to record its third album.
