Papa Roach Swerve last Thursday, the 5th. Fever 333 vocalist Jason Aalon Butler and Swedish rapper Sueco .
The colorful and laid-back music video was directed by Darren Craig , who has previously worked with Slipknot , Rihanna , and Justin Timberlake . “Swerve” is part of Papa Roach’s upcoming studio album, which, according to Jacoby Shaddix , is “the best the band has ever recorded.” Regarding the single, the vocalist said:
“This track emerged right at the end of the songwriting process for our upcoming album, and it truly sounds like the culmination of years of experimenting with our sound in a new version of Papa Roach. Filming this video with Jason and Sueco was one of the most fun experiences we’ve ever had, and I’m very excited to share the result with the world.”
The two guest artists share the same sentiment, with the rapper stating that Papa Roach has been an inspiration to him since childhood and that "Swerve" is "one of the best songs" he's ever made, while Butler adds:
“I said it before and I'll say it again: this band somehow manages to be both a legacy AND relevant at the same time. So, naturally, when I received the invitation to participate in this track, there was no doubt. With Sueco participating, this song has three different vibes that work together. It's something different, and that's exactly what rock needs. More DIFFERENT things. Thank you to these modern legends for making this happen.”
