The group is preparing the successor to Crooked Teeth (2017).
Jerry Horton , guitarist for Papa Roach , revealed to Richards Interviews that the band is "about 85% finished with the new album," the follow-up to Crooked Teeth . The new album is expected to be released "later this year or early 2019," according to Horton.
“We’re at that point in our careers, I think, where we want to try to explore more dynamics and not just be a barrier of guitars all the time. We can do that, but if there’s noise all the time, you can’t tell where there should be noise and where there shouldn’t be. So we’re trying to find a balance and make more of an impact. I think we started well with ‘Help’ (a Crooked Teeth ) and ‘Born For Greatness.’ We’re trying to imagine what it will be like live when we’re composing. That’s pretty much how ‘Born For Greatness’ came about, where we were thinking, like, ‘we want something that people enjoy.’ We’ve continued to do that, and it’s been really good.”
The band's frontman, Jacoby Shaddix , recently revealed to radio station Lazer 103.3 that the band has "13 or 14 songs written and recorded" for the new album. Describing Papa Roach as "a bold evolution," Shaddix also stated that the completed songs are "very inspiring, unique, different, exciting, and passionate."
Crooked Teeth was released in May 2017 through the Eleven Seven Music label. The album was composed and recorded in a crowded studio in North Hollywood, with producers such as Nicholas “RAS” Furlong and Colin Brittain, except for “Born For Greatness,” which featured Jason Evigan ( Jason Derulo , Demi Lovato , Zedd , Maroon 5 ).
