The world of rock and metal is increasingly present on the most popular platform in the world right now: TikTok . After Zaria and her love for Metallica , and the band Adam and the Metal Hawks doing covers of Ozzy Osbourne and AC/DC with jars and water bottles , Papa Roach is collaborating with a star of the app, Jeris Johnson , to release a new version of the band's 2000 classic, "Last Resort".
“It was incredible to hear that Jeris connected with the track the same way so many people around the world have,” says Jacoby Shaddix . “That conversation about 'Last Resort' and its impact on people hasn't stopped for 20 years, and we're very excited to do a new version for a new generation that keeps the conversation alive. The original version of 'Last Resort' is one of the most impactful and beloved songs of an entire generation of music (and of my childhood). There's an energy in that song that has made it a living art form at this point.”
“After I remixed [the song] and put it on TikTok, the last thing I expected was that I would end up in a studio with Papa Roach a few weeks later,” Johnson says. “The reaction and reception was so incredible that I (a random young guy on TikTok) got the attention of such an important band and the invitation to collaborate and remake 'Last Resort' for a whole new generation. I don't give a f*ck what anyone says, it was magical.”
