On Sunday night, the 11th, Pantera played at Knotfest Chile without bassist Rex Brown .
According to Blabbermouth , an official statement from the festival organizers initially stated that Brown was absent due to "health issues." The statement can no longer be found on Knotfest's social media.
No member of Pantera has yet commented or given further details about the bassist's absence, but according to local radio station Futuro , Rex Brown contracted COVID-19 and traveled back to the United States to quarantine. This information has not been officially confirmed. If true, it is possible that Brown will miss the remainder of the Knotfest tour in Latin America, including the shows in Brazil .
Charlie Benante , who is playing drums for Pantera's shows, posted a video on his Instagram of the performance in Chile and wished Rex Brown a speedy recovery in the caption. "We missed Rex today. Get well soon, friend," he wrote.
For Sunday's show in Chile, Pantera played with bassist Derek Engemann from Cattle Decapitation . Engemann plays in Philip H. Anselmo and the Illegals Phil Anselmo 's solo band which has performed several Pantera songs over the years.
