Ozzy Osbourne revealed that he is not comfortable using the term "metal" to describe his music.

In an interview with Spin ( via Blabbermouth ), the Madman explained that “Well, I never felt comfortable with the label they gave me – 'metal'. Because Ozzy Osbourne plays heavy, but the bands that are [considered metal] are really heavy, and we're all put in the same category.”

“When you’re pigeonholed into a certain [genre], it can be very difficult to do something a little lighter or an acoustic track or whatever you want to do. Back in the day, it was always just rock. It still is just rock,” he concluded.

Earlier this year, Ozzy Osbourne spoke about the term "heavy metal" in an interview with CNN ( via Blabbermouth ): "I've never, ever been able to latch onto the word 'heavy metal' – it has no musical connotations. If it were heavy rock, I could," he explained, talking about how rock and heavy metal have changed over time.
