Ozzy Osbourne was honored with two awards at the 2023 Grammy Awards, which took place last Sunday, the 5th.
The Prince of Darkness won the Best Rock Album award for Patient Number 9 , competing against Black Keys ( Dropout Boogie ), Elvis Costello & the Imposters ( The Boy Named If ), Idles ( Crawler ), Machine Gun Kelly (Mainstream Sellout ), and Spoon ( Lucifer on the Sofa ).
Producer Andrew Watt accepted the award on behalf of Ozzy, citing Taylor Hawkins and Jeff Beck , recently deceased musicians who contributed to the album. “We had a lot of fun making this album,” Watt said upon receiving the award. “We got to bring Ozzy and Tony together [for “Degradation Rules”] and make great music. So I talked to Ozzy in the car on the way here and he had two messages for people: ‘I love you all… and fuck you!’”
The musician also received the award for Best Metal Performance with the song "Degradation Rules," which features Tony Iommi . The track is part of Patient Number 9 .
The album's title track was nominated for Best Rock Musician and Best Rock Performance, but lost to Brandi Carlile 's "Broken Horses" in both categories.
Prior to this edition, Ozzy won a Grammy in 2014 for Black Sabbath , a live version of Sabbath's "Iron Man" in 2000, and for his solo track "I Don't Want To Change the World" in 1994.

The awards come just days after Ozzy cancelled a series of shows , saying he had concluded that he was not "physically able" to continue with the scheduled tour in Europe and the United Kingdom.
“I’m very grateful for how patiently you’ve held onto your tickets all this time, but in all honesty I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m not physically capable of doing the shows on my European and UK tour because I know I couldn’t handle the necessary travel,” Ozzy states. “Believe me when I say that the thought of letting my fans down really gets to me, more than you’ll ever know. I never thought my touring days would end this way.”
Judas Priest bandmates , and said that his team is brainstorming ideas so that he can still perform in some way without having to travel from city to city and country to country.
