Ozzy Osbourne was "impressed" to be invited to an event at the White House in 2002

"It was a very proud moment for him," says Jack Osbourne

A true cultural icon, Ozzy Osbourne , had reached a stage in his career where practically everything had already been done, and everyone had already been heard. However, when invited to an event at the White House in 2002, he had a moving reaction and experience.

The person who tells us most about this moment in Ozzy's career is his son Jack Osbourne, speaking to Fox News . “He still talks about it frequently. I think it was very important to him. My dad, and how he was growing up, was very blue-collar, very working class. And I think the fact that suddenly you're being invited to the White House Correspondents' Dinner and President [George W.] Bush is there receiving you, is cool. And at the time, the White House Correspondents' Dinner wasn't very well known for inviting celebrities. It was the early 2000s, it was basically just press.”

“My father was very impressed by that. It was a very proud moment for him,” Jack adds. “He had a very remarkable story of growing up in a tiny two-bedroom house with eight people to having a 50-year career and meeting the President of the United States. Whether you like his music or not, it’s an incredible success story.”

Speaking about Ozzy's childhood home, he recently mentioned in an interview that the current owner is renting out his childhood bedroom to fans for overnight stays. Click here to learn more.
