Ozzy Osbourne had only six days to prepare to play with Tony Iommi.

The pair performed for the first time in five years at the Commonwealth Games.

In an interview, Sharon Osbourne spoke about the details of Ozzy Osbourne at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games last Monday, the 8th.

To the delight of fans, Ozzy took to the stage with his bandmate Tony Iommi for the first time since 2017, and the duo performed the Black Sabbath ." Osbourne's participation was even more surprising because the musician had undergone delicate surgery to remove and realign pins in his neck and spine just a few months prior.

Speaking to Talk TV , Sharon revealed that Ozzy had no more than six days to prepare for the event and that his participation was uncertain until he had recovered from surgery.

“They invited us six months ago, but Ozzy couldn’t accept until he’d had his last operation,” he says. “They saw he was at Comic-Con and said, ‘Okay, bring him here.’ And we went. It was literally six days between the call and the moment he got there. It was incredible.”

Sharon also said that Ozzy Osbourne is "very proud" of his hometown, Birmingham, where the performance took place, and that she saw many people "crying tears of joy" at the singer's participation. 

Reunited after 5 years

The closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games brought Ozzy Osbourne and Tony Iommi together for the first time since Black Sabbath's last show in 2017. The reunion was even more special because it took place in Birmingham, their hometown and the birthplace of their beloved band.

Despite this being the duo's first live performance in five years, Iommi participated in Osbourne's upcoming album, Patient Number 9 "Degradation Rules" was recently released .
