In early 1980, Ozzy Osbourne went to the studio to record his first solo album, Blizzard of Ozz . He had just left Black Sabbath and felt the need to excel in his work, showing that he had talent outside the group.

Of course, today we know that Osbourne wasn't just Black Sabbath, but an incredible musician outside of it as well. That inspiration and drive to create an album that somehow equaled the group's work may have come from his bandmate and guitarist Randy Rhoads .

Alongside bassist Bob Daisley and drummer Lee Kerslake , Osbourne and Rhoads spent six days at Clearwell Castle in Gloucestershire, England, rehearsing and getting to know each other before heading to Ridge Farm Studio to record the album.

Released on September 20, 1980, Blizzard of Ozz became a huge success, especially due to its hit "Crazy Train," which instantly reached number nine on the Billboard charts and became one of the musician's most famous songs.

Nearly 40 years later, previously unseen behind-the-scenes images have been released, along with photos of Ozzy posing for the LP cover, a work by Finn Costello . See the images below.
