Ozzy Osbourne recently released Ordinary Man , marking his first solo album in ten years and the first he made sober.
During an interview, the Prince of Darkness said: “This is the first album that I helped compose and recorded completely sober. On the last album, I wrote some parts while I was high.”
He revealed that being high helps the creative process: “I thought it was the drugs and alcohol that made everything work. But that’s not true. All I did for years was self-medicate because I didn’t like how I felt.”
Now, in an Ask Me Anything on Reddit, Ozzy explained the difference between composing sober and high: “I didn’t think much about it. I just did it. Drinking is no longer on my mind. Now it’s in the back of my mind.”
Ozzy also advised the next generation: “I’m lucky. Everyone I used to do drugs with is dead. If you want a long life, don’t do drugs.”
