On the eve of the premiere of the documentary The Nine Lives Of Ozzy Osbourne , which debuted yesterday, the 7th, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne recall the tragic episode in which the artist almost killed his wife in 1989 while under the influence of drugs.

In an interview with The Sun , Sharon recalls the moment, “He came into the room. I had no idea who was sitting on the other side of the sofa, but it wasn’t my husband. He goes to the stage where he has that look, the blinds were closed and I couldn’t get to him. And he just said, ‘We’ve come to a decision that you have to die.’”

“He was calm, very calm, then suddenly he attacked me, knocked me down, and started choking me. He put me on the floor and got on top of me, and I was trying to reach things on the table. I felt the panic button, pressed it, and the next thing I knew, the police were there,” she recounts.

Ozzy, for his part, recalls the unfortunate episode, “I felt the calmest I’d ever been in my life. It’s not one of my greatest achievements. All I remember was waking up in Amersham prison and asking the officer, ‘Why am I here?’ And he said, ‘Do you want me to read you your charge?’ Then he read, ‘John Michael Osbourne, you have been arrested for attempted murder.’”

Despite the difficult situation, Sharon decided not to divorce Ozzy for the sake of their children, after thinking about it for six months while her husband was undergoing court-ordered treatment. “I told him, ‘I don’t want the money, but if you do this again, either I’ll kill you, or you’ll kill me. And do you want that for the children?’”
