Over the years, Ozzy Osbourne has never stopped paying tribute to Randy Rhoads . Following the announcement of the guitarist's induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame , the singer expressed his gratitude for the legacy they built together.
With a fascinating partnership on the Prince of Darkness Rhoads ' career was suddenly interrupted at the age of 25 by a tragic plane crash in 1982. "It took a long time, but he got there in the end. He was a great guitarist… I mean, he should still be alive. The way he died was terrible," Ozzy commented to Rolling Stone .
Reflecting on the quality of Rhoads' compositions on Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman , Ozzy thinks about what could have happened afterward. “I owe my career to him. What he gave me in that short space of time was immeasurable in its greatness. (…) I am eternally grateful for that. Only God knows where that man would be today. The very fact that he's not here to breathe is just a damn crime,” he continued.
Rhoads will posthumously Musical Excellence on October 30th, described as an honor "for artists, musicians, composers and producers whose originality and influence in creating music has had a dramatic impact on music."
