The highly anticipated Ozzy Osbourne biopic is in development, but its release is not expected until 2028.
During a live stream on his channel, Jack Osbourne, the singer's son, revealed that the script is practically finished and the team is now working on choosing a director [transcription via Blabbermouth].
“I was on a few calls today about it. The script is ready. Everything is set. This movie is definitely going to happen. Realistically—I mean, look, we’re already halfway through 2026—it probably won’t be released before 2028. But you never know. But yes, we’re going full steam ahead. We’re about to start looking for a director. So, fingers crossed. I’m very excited. It has been, yes, a job done with a lot of care, of course. But yes, I’m excited—I’m excited for everyone to see this movie,” Jack revealed.
The film, still without an official title, was originally announced in 2021 as a co-production between Osbourne Media, Sony Pictures and Polygram Entertainment, focusing not only on Ozzy's musical career but also on his relationship with his wife and manager Sharon Osbourne, who is involved in the production with their children. However, the production decided to shorten the period covered. The new version is expected to focus on the end of the artist's time with Black Sabbath, the beginning of his solo career, and his relationship with Sharon during the 1980s.
Jack Osbourne also previously revealed that the production has already cast the actor who will play Ozzy, although the name has not yet been released.
