Ozzy Osbourne is mentioned by a priest during mass in a church in Minas Gerais

The priest mentioned Ozzy's name while reading the names of loved ones who had passed away seven days prior

Ozzy Osbourne was remembered during a mass in Uberlândia (MG), last Monday, the 27th – and the unusual moment went viral on social media. The heavy metal icon and Black Sabbath died on July 22nd, at the age of 76.

According to the newspaper O Estado de Minas , the mass in question was celebrated at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Aparecida. While reading the names of loved ones who had passed away seven days prior, Father Eduardo Calil mentioned Ozzy's name, likely suggested by a parishioner who admired the musician.

In an interview, the religious figure said that he "simply read the name that was there" and saw no problem with the intention. "I think it's perhaps important to say that the Church prays for everyone. And that if a fan thought it would be interesting to pray for someone they like, that's completely acceptable," he said.

According to G1 , advertising executive Plínio Augusto Siqueira was the one who recorded the unexpected tribute. As a regular at the sanctuary, he knows the sequence of rituals and, when he heard Ozzy's name at the beginning of the celebration, he prepared his cell phone, knowing that the names would be remembered at another point in the mass.
