Jack Osbourne , in an interview on the Trying Not To Die [via NME ], revealed that Sharon Osbourne planned for Ozzy Osbourne to record an album composed exclusively of duets with female vocalists.
Jack and his half-brother Louis Osbourne revealed what Ozzy had been listening to in recent years. “He didn’t listen to much rock; he appreciated it, he could understand it, but he was more intrigued by music with really incredible production and melody. My father listened to things like Tears For Fears and a lot of 80s music. He loved 80s music. In the last two years, he went through a real Michael Jackson phase,” the brothers revealed.
Ozzy had also been showing great admiration for powerful female voices, such as Adele, Amy Winehouse , and Annie Lennox . Therefore, Sharon believed that this direction would give his music an "upgrade," connecting different generations.
“I’ll tell you who really, really, really impressed him when she first came along:
Adele. He was extremely impressed with her vocal range and her voice, he was truly amazed. Amy Winehouse too, he held Amy Winehouse in high regard. Over the last 20 years, they were two of the greatest voices, especially coming from the UK. One thing my mum had been trying to convince my dad to do for the last couple of years was to record a duet album with female vocalists,” Louis said.
In addition, the Osbourne brothers mentioned "Shake Your Head," the lost 1980s recording with Ozzy and Madonna that never officially reached the public.
