Ozzy's mutant gene is believed to be responsible for his survival despite drug use
In 2010, a research group at the University of Cambridge conducted a study on Ozzy Osbourne . The intention was to discover how the Prince of Darkness survived lifelong drug and alcohol abuse. The result: Ozzy is genetically mutant.
That's what Bill Sullivan in the book Pleased to Meet Me: Genes, Germs, and the Curious Forces that Make Us Who We Are , published by National Geographic.
The professor and researcher explains that there are variations in human genetics that change how we taste sweet foods, alter the pleasure felt when drinking coffee, and even affect issues of sexual attraction and political leanings.
Regarding Ozzy, his genes kept him alive despite a lifetime of drug and alcohol abuse. The singer's DNA made him more resistant to these substances than most people.
"I always knew that at the end of the world, only cockroaches, Ozzy and Keith Richards ," Sharon Osbourne , commenting on the news, according to the Daily Mail.
