Ozzy Osbourne will be buried in a funeral in his hometown of Birmingham, England, on Wednesday, July 30. The heavy metal icon and Black Sabbath died last Tuesday, July 22, at the age of 76.
The funeral will be private, preceded by a public funeral procession at 9 a.m. (Brasilia time) that will pass through the center of the singer's hometown, crossing the bridge and the Black Sabbath bank, where thousands of fans left messages and flowers in tribute to the pioneering heavy metal singer.
According to The Guardian , Birmingham Mayor Zafar Iqbal said: “It was important for the city that we support a dignified and appropriate tribute ahead of a private funeral for the family. We know how much this moment will mean to his fans.”
The local band Bostin Brass will accompany the procession. Furthermore, according to The Guardian , the surviving members of Black Sabbath, as well as the artist Yungblud, “will be performing.”
Sharon 's wife , and children Kelly and Jack , possibly among her other children, will follow the procession before the private funeral. The private event will take place later that day. Details have not been released.
Also, according to NME , fans will be able to watch the funeral procession via a live stream on the Black Sabbath Bench website . The event is scheduled for 1 PM (local time) – 9 AM (Brasilia time).
Ozzy Osbourne's death was "unexpected," according to tabloid.
Ozzy Osbourne, heavy metal icon and vocalist for Black Sabbath, died last Tuesday, July 22nd, at the age of 76.
According to the Daily Mail , a family friend said his death was "unexpected ." The Prince of Darkness passed away at his mansion in England. He spent his last days with his wife/businesswoman Sharon Osbourne and his daughters, Kelly and Aimee Osbourne, who cared for him, according to the tabloid.
Furthermore, according to the Daily Mail , a source close to the family stated that "Ozzy always intended to return to live in the United Kingdom, in Buckinghamshire."
“There was a lot of hope that he would remain alive for much longer. But at one point there was a fear that they wouldn’t be able to bring him from Los Angeles for his farewell performance earlier this month,” the friend reportedly said. “It’s extremely sad for all of them, who really hoped he would be able to stay alive for a while longer. But it’s very beautiful to know that he had his children by his side in his final days.”
The family confirmed Ozzy Osbourne's death through a statement [via The Guardian ]:
"It is with greater sadness than words can express that we have to inform you that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family's privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis."
Although Ozzy had faced several health problems in recent years, the family has not released the cause of death.
Paramedics spent two hours trying to save Ozzy Osbourne.
According to the Daily Mail newspaper , an air ambulance was called to Ozzy Osbourne to try and save him on the day he died, last Tuesday, the 22nd.
A helicopter from The Thames Valley landed in a field near Welders House, the Osbourne family mansion, on Tuesday morning at around 10:30 am.
According to the Daily Mail, calls from Welders House led operators to believe that the Prince of Darkness's life was in danger. The newspaper also states that paramedics fought for two hours to try to save Ozzy's life, but were unsuccessful.
A spokesperson for the service confirmed to the Daily Mail : “We can confirm that our helicopter was dispatched to provide advanced intensive care at an incident near Chalfont St Giles yesterday.”
Residents of the village of Jordans, which is next to the Osbournes' house, told the Daily Mail that they realized "something serious" was happening when they heard a helicopter hovering over Welders House and saw it land nearby.
