Max Cavalera has become one of the most recognized names in Brazilian metal and has managed to become friends with some of his biggest idols through his work in bands such as Sepultura , Soulfly , Cavalera Conspiracy , and Go Ahead and Die .

In an interview with The Wikimetal Happy Hour , the guitarist confessed that the fan feeling never went away when meeting legends like Tony Iommi and Ozzy Osbourne , whom Cavalera has admired since adolescence. “The fan side never completely disappears, you pinch yourself and [think], 'Am I really next to the guy? Holy shit, that's crazy',” he said. “At the same time, you end up becoming that person over time, when I meet guys from new bands, I see in their eyes the same thing I saw when I saw Ozzy.”

Aware of the reach of classics like Arise (1991) and Chaos AD (1993) as "influential albums in the world of metal," Max Cavalera acknowledges his own place as an inspiration for younger musicians. "I like talking to musicians, I like the idea of learning from musicians and wanting more information," he said about those moments.

In a peculiar story involving the Prince of Darkness , the Brazilian found himself in a friendly position with the artist and had to help Ozzy during a confusing moment backstage on a tour. "It's a pretty crazy thing, it doesn't seem normal to say that [he's] your friend," he said.

The unusual scene took place in Norway. “I remember one time, Ozzy was in Europe and had absolutely no idea where he was. He was in the dressing room, looked at me and asked, 'Max, where are we?' He didn't know where he was, he didn't even know what country it was, I had to tell him,” the guitarist recounted. “And our son's name is Zyon , he said, 'How are you doing, Simon?'”
