Ozzy Osbourne appears in advertisement condemning cruelty to cats

The Prince of Darkness appears with amputated fingers to condemn the declawing of domestic cats

Ozzy Osbourne is going through a difficult period recovering from neck surgery and with a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease , but none of that has stopped the Prince of Darkness from continuing to fight for the causes he believes in.

In a new ad from the animal rights organization PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), the singer appears with amputated and bleeding fingers, accompanied by the message: “Never declaw a cat. This is amputation, not manicure work.”.

The piece is condemning people who own cats and declaw them to prevent the animals from damaging the furniture in their homes. The practice is quite common, and PETA explains: “When you declaw a cat, part of its toe also needs to be amputated. Veterinarians compare this practice to removing part of the bone from a human finger, causing nerve problems, infections, and pain.”

“Cutting off cats’ fingers is disturbing and wrong,” Osbourne said in a press statement issued with the organization, “If you think your couch is more important than your cat’s health and happiness, you don’t deserve to have a pet! Buy a toy scratcher for it – don’t mutilate it!”
