Black Sabbath 's vocalist and bassist , Ozzy Osbourne and Geezer Butler , starred in the promotional video for the 2024/2025 season uniform of Aston Villa, an English football team based in Birmingham — Butler's hometown and where Osbourne grew up.
Released this Wednesday, the 23rd, on social media, the campaign marks the beginning of a special season for the team, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary. Furthermore, the Lions — as they are also known — will return to compete in the Champions League after more than four decades.
The video shows Ozzy calling the bassist: “Geezer! Let’s play at Villa Park!”, says the Madman, referring to the team's stadium. Coach Unai Emery and players like Ollie Watkins and Emiliano Martinez also make an appearance in the campaign.
The commercial features the classic track "Paranoid" from the 1970 album of the same name as its soundtrack. At the end, Geezer Butler interrupts the music to play the Champions League anthem.
Both Ozzy and Geezer are avowed fans of Aston Villa, which was even the inspiration behind the name of the track "AVH"—which stands for "Aston Villa Highway"—from the vocalist's 1991 solo album, No More Tears
