Metallica has released the original demo of "My Friend of Misery," a track from their 30th-anniversary album, the Black Album. The song was recorded by bassist Jason Newsted , who left the band in 2003.
Furthermore, Kamasi Washington released a cover of the same song on his YouTube channel, which he performed last month at the Hollywood Bowl. The recording is part of the band's anniversary celebration, which features over 50 artists in the Blacklist . Additionally, Metallica will release a remastered version of the Black Album with demos and unreleased recordings.
The Metallica Blacklist and the remastered version of the Black Album will be released on September 10th as part of the celebration of the album's three-decade anniversary. All profits from each sale, download, or stream of the material will be donated to the charities All Within My Hands Foundation and Chestnut Tree House.
