On this May 8th, 2024, it will be one year since Rita Lee , the Queen of Rock, passed away due to lung cancer. On this date, her widower, Roberto de Carvalho, took to social media to pay her a moving tribute.
Since Rita's passing, Roberto has expressed his longing by sharing photos from different phases of his life with the singer, as well as performing her songs while participating in other musicians' shows.
In a post on his Instagram account , Rita's widower published an old photo alongside Rita and wrote: “My heart bleeds and then please calm me. Bring back my soul. Ease this urge to leave. So much love cannot end in pain. I will gather a lot of courage. For the last journey to you. Until forever, my love.”

In 2021, Rita was diagnosed with lung cancer and the following year she was in remission. Since then, she had been recovering at home with her family. The cause of death has not been officially revealed.
In April of this year, the São Paulo City Council approved in its first vote a project proposing to include the artist's name in Ibirapuera Park, in the city of São Paulo.
