Oli Sykes, lead singer of Bring Me The Horizon, talks in an interview about his relationship with Jordan Fish.

In a recent interview, Oli Sykes Jordan Fish 's departure from Bring Me The Horizon .

Previously, speaking to the website Revolver , Oli had only said that the keyboardist's departure was for personal reasons. Now, speaking to NME , the vocalist has revealed details about their relationship within the band.

Sykes explained that the two had a different way of working with music: "I know we often talk about ourselves as a duo," Sykes said about working with Fish.

“The point at which we started to drift apart was the fact that, after Survival Horror , I started thinking about and addressing the way we were doing things. It was all about not stopping, and that fear of: 'If we stop, we'll fall apart, the band won't be big anymore, someone will take over, someone will be bigger and better than us,'” says Sykes.

As the band grew significantly, the way each member dealt with it was quite different, which triggered some conflicts. “At some point, you have to accept that your band is this big. You need to ask yourself how much you want to do to gain this extra [popularity]. Do you really want to join TikTok and do all the dances? Do you want to kill yourself in the studio every day when you don't even want to write songs just out of fear?” Oli asked.

Jordan Fish's departure changed the atmosphere of Bring Me The Horizon, according to Oli Sykes.

At the beginning of the recording of the last album, Oli recalls how the band's relationship wasn't good, he felt bad and just wanted to end it. He added: “I'm not going to sit here and say, 'Oh, it was just creative differences and we wish him the best and we're all getting along, and blah, blah, blah.' It's never like that,” he explained. “Like all breakups – they never really end. Even the most amicable ones. There's a division. It's also very annoying. There's no headline there.”

After Fish left, Oli says he “realized the atmosphere improved. I wondered how I could have gotten to the point of hating the album when I love making music, creating art. I do it for fun. If I'm not making music, I write a story, draw, make a t-shirt for Drop Dead or something like that. I love it. How did it get so bad that I said I wanted to end it? After that, I realized that without Jordan things were going much slower.”
