Petition for "Cliff Burton Day" already has over 4,000 signatures

The campaign launched by Metallica fans to establish an official holiday, "Cliff Burton Day," in honor of the band's original bassist, is close to achieving its goal.

Created on the Change.org , the petition seeks to establish a holiday on February 10th, the birthday of Cliff Burton in Castro Valley, California.

In addition to the 2,500 required signatures, the Castro Valley City Council also voted and unanimously approved, 7-0, the creation of "Cliff Burton Day," and with that, the final step for definitive approval will take place on February 6th.

On that day, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors will give final approval and thus, the new holiday in honor of Cliff Burton should be instituted.
