The band Shaman announced the end of its activities last Monday, the 10th, after internal disagreements involving the actions of Ricardo Confessori . The drummer got into discussions about politics with fans on social media and offended veterinarian Mateus Ferreira , who spoke out about the case.
It all started when Confessori shared a video of President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's announcing the federal intervention in Brasília, a measure taken in response to the terrorist and coup-like acts perpetrated by supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro last Sunday, January 8th.
Confessori's post refers to Lula as a "fake president" and shows violent acts by left-wing protesters in the 2000s. "Out of every 10 words, 11 are lies. That's called psychopathy, right?", wrote the musician.
In the comments, there was polarization, and many fans expressed disagreement with the content of the post and were personally responded to by Ricardo Confessori, who made homophobic and transphobic insults to more than one follower.
Emphuria band bassist and veterinarian Mateus Ferreira had a longer discussion with Confessori in the comments after saying that "instead of taking a stand in favor of democracy, against vandalism and against the scandal that happened, they prefer to make a ridiculous comparison in order to equate the disaster."
In a now-deleted comment from the original post, but captured by fans in a screenshot, Confessori belittles veterinarians and attacks the sexuality of Mateus, a longtime fan of Angra and Shaman. “You’re nothing but a faggot [sic] who failed medical school. Weak level. Come back here when you’re at least a doctor. Left-wing men are a ready-made joke. Get out of the feminine pole,” wrote the musician. “Non-binary feminist, get a grip, look at your idiot face.”
The fan posted a video addressing the discussion, discussing the offenses suffered and stating that they will take legal action against the hate attacks, as homophobia is a crime according to Law 10.948/2001.
“They even said that if I were intelligent, I would be a humane doctor. It offended my sexuality,” the professional recounted, “I am openly gay and very proud of it. I went through many difficulties in life simply because I am gay, and even so, I succeeded. I was never a guy who had money or privileges, but I still fought and achieved my profession, which I am extremely proud of. (...) You will be held criminally responsible for your hate attacks; in 2023, there is no longer room for this type of behavior on the internet.”.

Statement by Ricardo Confessori
Shortly before Luis and Hugo Mariutti announced their departure and the end of Shaman, respectively, Confessori published a video addressing the "heated discussions" he had on social media. "I want to make it very clear that the positions and opinions expressed here on my channel, the Ricardo Confessori channel, are exclusively mine, OK? They do not extend to companies, groups, schools, or any other type of group I am part of," he said.
