Of Mice & Men shared with fans the title track from the band's new EP, Timeless , which arrives on February 26th via SharpTone Records .
“'Timeless' is a song about becoming increasingly aware of impermanence, written through a dark, yet romantic lens,” says singer and bassist Aaron Pauley . “At the beginning of the pandemic, I was watching a lot of black and white films. One of my favorite films is 'Casablanca.' I wonder if there are any original copies. You know, although that film is universally considered timeless, the actual celluloid is so fragile. But I think we find a special kind of vibe in life when we are aware of our own impermanence.”
Regarding the EP's creation, the artist explains, “There’s an old saying about what you should do when life gives you lemons. Unfortunately, to our disappointment, that wasn’t exactly it. We started writing this EP shortly after the first periods of quarantine in the spring of 2020, before we knew the world was about to become a radically different place. Many of these songs were born from wondering how we would fit into 2020 and beyond, both as adults in our 30s and also as a band that has existed for a decade.”
