death metal band Obituary has announced their new studio album, Dying of Everything, for release on January 13th, along with the music video for the single " The Wrong Time ".
In an interview with Relapse Records , vocalist John Tardy spoke about expectations for the album: “I think it’s going to sound just like Obituary. You know us – we’re kind of cavemen; we don’t like to evolve too much. We like to change and do a little bit here and there, but we’re getting too old to change much, I think. As long as it’s heavy and strong, that’s what you can expect.”
Donald Tardy also told Chaoszine that he had help from guitarist Ken Andrews in writing the album's songs, and that Andrews brought a more old-school . Joe Cincotta was responsible for production, as he was for the last four albums.
“We chose 'The Wrong Time' as the first single because it's a true representation of the sound, style, and feel we were aiming for in the studio, and it's a great sample of what you can expect from 'Dying of Everything',” commented the Florida veterans about their choice of lead single . The music video is produced by Odd Life Studios .
Finally, John explains the American band's continued success since their beginnings in the 80s: “I think it comes down to passion. I say this all the time, but if something isn't fun, I'm not going to do it. And we're having more fun than ever.”.
Earlier this year, Decibel Books released the authorized biography Turned Inside Out: The Official Story Of Obituary .
