"This is not a test." Last Saturday, the 22nd, Oasis returned to Brazil after 16 years, where they performed the first of their two highly anticipated shows in São Paulo , at the Morumbi Stadium, which brought together around 70,000 people.

The show was part of the Oasis: Live'25 , marking the reunion of brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher on stage after their hiatus in 2009. During that time, both consolidated their solo careers, but on August 27, 2024, they shocked the world by announcing that "the guns had fallen silent" and they would return in 2025 .

Richard Ashcroft opens for Oasis in São Paulo.

Richard Ashcroft , the mastermind behind The Verve , accompanied the group throughout Europe and South America. The singer returned to Brazil for the second time this year. His performance was short, but the audience reacted better when "Lucky Man" and "Bitter Sweet Symphony" were played. These tracks are Britpop anthems, a style that made both the artist and the main act of the night famous.

For the Oasis show, there was a grandiose structure: a gigantic stage, composed of a screen that stretched from one end of the stadium to the other. On the ceiling, the band's iconic logo shone and made its presence felt. The show's introduction showed headlines from around the world about the reunion. At the end of the video, the Gallaghers entered hand in hand – this moment is certainly the image of the tour and one of the highlights of the year.

A setlist featuring timeless hits.

The 23-song setlist was a parade of hits from the British band's discography. Special focus was given to tracks from Definitely Maybe (1994) and (What's The Story) Morning Glory? (1995) – the band's most commercially successful album, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2025. The repertoire also included tracks from Here Be Now (1997) , Heathen Chemistry (2002), and the compilation The Masterplan (1998).

Despite their time apart, the chemistry between Liam and Noel still works very well. The vocal dynamic between the two is particularly noteworthy. Bonehead also deserves mention. The guitarist, and one of the founding members of the group, returned to the band after leaving in 1998. More recently, he had to take time off during shows in Asia and Oceania to undergo cancer treatment. Veterans Andy Bell (bass) and Gem Archer (guitar), who have been with the band since 1999, also returned.

The backing musicians are Joey Waronker (drums), Christian Madden (keyboards), Alastair White (trombone), Steve Hamilton (saxophone), and Joe Auckland (trumpet). All of them accompany Liam and Noel in their respective solo careers.

“Live Forever” featured a special tribute.

Throughout the tour, the band paid tribute to several personalities during the song "Live Forever." Diogo Jota in Wales, Diego Maradona in Argentina, among others. For São Paulo, the chosen honoree was Gary "Mani" Mounfield , the legendary bassist of The Stone Roses and Primal Scream , who passed away on November 20th at the age of 63. Liam dedicated the track to him, calling him a "hero." Mounfield was an inspiration to the Gallaghers and a key figure in the consolidation of Britpop in the 90s.

For the encore, the sequence comprised of “Don't Look Back in Anger,” “Wonderwall,” and “Champagne Supernova” drove the fans wild. A fireworks display lasting approximately 4 minutes marked the end of a historic day.

Oasis concert in São Paulo marks the end of their tour.

Oasis' second show in São Paulo on Sunday marked the end of their tour. At this time, it's unknown what the band's future plans are. In any case, the British band's return broke records for worldwide audience numbers, beer sales in London, official merchandise, etc.

Also noteworthy is the excitement caused by their return. At each show – totaling 42 on the tour – the cities were gripped by "Oasismania" fever. Various initiatives, such as pop-up shops , were set up to engage the fans.

The Oasis reunion certainly ranks as one of the most remarkable, grandiose, and lucrative shows in the history not only of rock, but of music in general. It is estimated to have grossed £400 million (approximately R$3 billion) by the end.

If we were to go back 10 years, it would be unlikely to say that we would see Liam and Noel on the same stage again. But "the long wait is over." Even though the future is uncertain, Oasis' legacy will continue through generations to come. There were a large number of young people and children present. Everyone was able to witness history unfold before their eyes in a moment that will be etched in eternity and will "live forever."
