When it was announced in September 2024, many people imagined that the reunion tour Oasis would finally be marked by a war of words between Liam and Noel Gallagher, that the atmosphere backstage would be like a bomb about to explode, or a possible fight between the two on stage.

However, the highly anticipated documentary Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger, directed by Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern, defies the expectations of fans who might think the film would show the brother duo fighting, focusing instead on something deeper: how music can reconcile and heal wounds.

Tension before the opening show of the tour in Wales

From the tour rehearsalsonwards, the film shows an interesting dynamic, since the 16-year estrangement between Liam and Noel wasn't resolved with long conversations or apologies made in a closed-door meeting. The relationship was strictly professional: Liam would arrive, conduct the rehearsals, and leave, while his brother was responsible for adjusting technical details alongside Bonehead, Andy Bell , and Gem Archer.

Uncertainty about how the band would sound live lingered until moments before the tour's opening showat Principality Stadium in Cardiff on July 4, 2025. However, as soon as the band took the stage, everyone was surprised by Liam's gesture of entering hand-in-hand with Noel, creating the most iconic image of the entire tour.

With the first chords of "Hello," the audience was already ecstatic, and everything seemed to be heading towards a happy ending, except for Noel, who even admitted that he almost asked to leave the stage due to his extreme nervousness. On the other side, we see Liam in his characteristic style, as if 16 years hadn't even passed since the last time he was on stage with his brother.

This feeling isn't limited to just the two of them, as the directors perfectly captured how Oasis' music transcends the band and affects the audience. You can see the shock of the fans at the end of the first show in Wales, people crying during "Slide Away," a sense of closure for a survivor of the 2017 Manchester bombings, and even a vicar building his sermon around the Gallaghers' forgiveness and the fans' pilgrimage to Heaton Park.

Brazil was marked by one of the most difficult moments of the tour

For Brazilian audiences, the documentary holds one of its saddest and most historic moments: the closing of the tour in São Paulo. While traveling to the city, the duo discovers that Gary 'Mani' Mounfield, a legend of the Stone Roses and one of their main idols, had passed away.

At this point, we see one of the most moving moments in the entire documentary: the playing of "Live Forever," during which both Liam and Noel are visibly shaken and united by something in common.

Liam and Noel's different personalities make Oasis what it is

Oasis' success stems precisely from the contrasting personalities of its leaders. On one hand, we see Noel with his skeptical and reserved demeanor, fearing every step he takes. On the other, Liam is the exact personification of a "Rock N' Roll Star," unafraid to be himself and indifferent to criticism.

Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger perfectly describes the cultural phenomenon of the tour called Live '25, given that not even its members imagined playing in stadiums around the world, much less that they would have such a huge audience demand.

For those who waited 15 years for something that seemed impossible years ago, the film allows them to relive every moment of the historic reunion; and for those who couldn't see the documentary in theaters, the work will soon be available on the Disney+ streaming service under the Hulu Originals label .
