This Friday, the 24th, Nothing More releases their new single “Spirits” and announces the album of the same name, which will be released on October 14th via Better Noise Music .
The new album contains 13 tracks and is described as the band's most "focused, daring and intense" work, combining "introspective and philosophical lyrics with great anthems".
Regarding the name Spirits , vocalist Johnny Hawkins reflects on the parallel between two meanings of the word in English, which is used both to refer to the spiritual side and to the consumption of alcohol:
“Isn’t it interesting that we give the same name to something sacred and something highly intoxicating? The song 'Spirits' describes this dilemma. People say that when you consume alcoholic beverages, you are inviting that spirit into your body. Many of us have experienced or seen how alcohol makes us feel. It’s as if we become another person when we take too much of that spirit.”
“Sometimes it opens our eyes and can lead to great conversations that change our lives or to bonds that would never normally happen… And sometimes it can take you to the opposite extreme. It can turn us into our own Dr. Hyde and force us to do or say horrible things that we wouldn’t do sober. Spirits are both: a little celestial and a little morbid,” he concludes.
Formed in 2003, Nothing More recently went on a joint tour with Asking Alexandria and has now announced its own North American tour starting in August. The band is a great option for those who like Linkin Park , Incubus, and Rage Against The Machine .
