“Life of Excesses” is a release from the Forever Vacation Records label
Combining grunge, noise, metal, and industrial psychedelia, Noid is a band from Curitiba that brings to life sounds from 90s and 2000s alternative rock in their debut EP, Life of Excesses . Available on all digital music platforms, the record engages with modern anxieties and excesses.
The band consists of multi-artist Marcelo Fiedler on guitars and vocals, Katherine Finn Zander ( Cora, Katze ) on bass and vocals, and Bruno D. Piccolo ( Sitinglass, Floating Kid, Under Bad Eyes ) on drums. Fiedler began working on the demos in 2017 and presented them to Zander at the beginning of last year. Focusing on the project since the second half of 2018, they released the music video and single "Leech" in December of the same year. Recently, they released a claustrophobic music video for "Unsun".
“The EP’s name comes from the concept that we live in a state of excess; human beings are inherently highly addicted. We talk about flirting with burnout and self-destruction from the moment of birth because we all begin as virgin media, consuming life as it consumes us, and we end up as calloused shells full of content and obsolete at the end of life ,” reflects Marcelo.
Released by Forever Vacation Records , the EP features five tracks and marks the beginning of Noid, who are working on new music with the ambition of creating a choleric, dirty, and visceral rock sound. “Life of Excesses” explores abusive relationships (“Leech”), addictions (“Crooked Lung”), and obsessions (“Several Days”).
The album cover itself suggests a sense of excess across multiple layers of understanding. It incorporates painting, photography, and digital media, superimposing symbols and icons, such as Caravaggio over the image of a child without eyes.
"All of them together speak about the duality of different personalities in one being, the calmness imposed by social interaction, and the inner crisis of the psyche, which is very much in line with the band's sound ," Fiedler adds.
“Life of Excesses” is available on all major music streaming services.
