Noel Gallagher , known for his work in Oasis and his band Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds , is writing a track for a tribute album to his idol John Lennon .

The claim comes from The Sun , which states that Noel is working at Tileyard Studios in London and was invited by Sean Lennon , who is responsible for the project honoring his father in the year he would have turned 80.

"Sean wanted Noel on board because of his love for the Beatles and John, and also in recognition of the immense impact he had on the UK music scene over the last few decades," a source told the newspaper.

Further details about the project have not yet been revealed.
