Noel Gallagher on comparisons between Oasis and The Beatles: "It's embarrassing."

The musician went to a special event to watch the documentary 'The Beatles: Get Back'.

Noel Gallagher recently attended an advance screening of the documentary The Beatles: Get Back , which premieres on Disney+ in late November , divided into three episodes.

According to NME , the musician spoke about the comments comparing Oasis to the Beatles during the 90s, at the height of the band's popularity. Gallagher said that having his work compared to the Beatles is "shameful," but only because, in his words, Oasis wasn't as good as them.

“When Oasis started, we were so famous that we were compared to them in size,” he says. “And musically, shamefully, we were compared to them too. It’s shameful because we weren’t as good as them…”

The musician went on to talk about his admiration for the Beatles and their importance in his life and career. "The Beatles mean everything to me," he stated. "They have the best songs, period. Within my record collection, they have the best songs by far."

“They influenced everyone who influenced other people, who then influenced everyone who came and went. Their influence is absolute. I don’t know a single guy who plays guitar or writes songs who doesn’t cite the Beatles as an influence.”

The documentary The Beatles: Get Back was directed by Peter Jackson ( The Lord of the Rings ) and will be over six hours long, divided into three episodes to be released on November 25, 26 and 27.
