In a span of less than 24 hours, Noel Gallagher surprised fans by announcing his new album, Council Skies , and also his divorce from Sara MacDonald , to whom he had been married for 12 years.
The project with his band High Flying Birds will be released on June 2nd. Released by Sour Mash Records , it will also include an extended two-disc version. Pre-orders are now available .
“I’m going back to my roots. Daydreaming, rolling my eyes and imagining what life could be… That’s as true for me today as it was in the early 90s. When I was growing up in poverty and unemployment, music saved me… a bit like Top of the Pops on TV on a Thursday night, you’re immersed in a fantasy world. That’s what I think music should do. I want my music to uplift and help in some way,” commented the former Oasis member about Council Skies (via Rádio Rock ).
Produced and featuring Paul Stacey and Johnny Marr , the album was recorded at Lone Star Sound Recording Studios and the famous Abbey Road Studios .
Along with this news, the new single “Easy Now” was released this Tuesday, the 17th. The track is the successor to “ Pretty Boy ” and “ Trying To Find A World That's Been And Gone ”. The music video for “Easy Now”, directed by Colin Solal Cardo , stars Milly Alcock , best known for her role as Rhaenyra Targaryen in the HBO series House Of Dragon .
The day before, the 16th, it was announced that Noel and his wife Sara had ended their 12-year marriage. "Noel and Sara will continue to work together to care for their children, who remain their priority. Noel and Sara ask the media to respect their privacy and that of their family at this time." (via People ).
According to a source close to the former couple, the reason for the separation was the musician's attendance at a Glastonbury . "They had been having problems for a while, but some friends think things got out of control when Noel went to a party at the Glastonbury . Sara was not at all happy when Noel went to a party that lasted all night at a farm, partying with some friends, including Rita Ora , until 6 am," the source told The Sun.
Noel Gallagher has shows scheduled in the UK in mid-2023 , but further information about a possible tour has not yet been released.
