On Wednesday, May 11th, Nirvana "Smells Like Teen Spirit" on YouTube. This is the first time a grunge band has reached this milestone.

Directed by Samuel Bayer and with an estimated budget between US$30,000 and US$50,000, the music video premiered on MTV in 1991. It helped Nirvana win awards and become an icon of the scene at the time.

Currently, there are over 100 music videos that have surpassed the 2 billion view mark on YouTube , mostly in the pop, rap, and country genres.

According to the website Loudwire, the rock music videos that reached this milestone were "Numb" by Linkin Park , with 2.51 billion views, and "November Rain" by Guns N' Roses , with 2.29 billion views.
