Danny Goldberg also spoke about the theories surrounding the vocalist's death
Last June 5th marked 25 years since we lost Kurt Cobain , the leader of Nirvana . In the week that followed, the band's former manager, Danny Goldberg, released the book Serving The Servant: Remembering Kurt Cobain , which recounts previously untold stories about the vocalist.
Among the various interesting facts, one stood out. Goldberg revealed that Cobain was considering a solo career and even scheduled studio sessions with REM frontman Michael Stipe , but he didn't show up.
“I think he would have found different ways to express himself, sometimes in the band, sometimes outside of it,” says the manager, who also spoke about the theories surrounding Cobain's death. “It's ridiculous,” he said about the idea that the musician was murdered.
“Why do people say these things? (…) I saw him a week before he died and he was depressed. He had tried to kill himself six weeks earlier and had written about suicide several times. He was on drugs and had a gun.”
