Nirvana will have another exhibition featuring memorabilia from its members. This time, it will be dedicated to the classic MTV Unplugged .
In December 1993, MTV aired one of its biggest – and most notorious – live acoustic specials: Nirvana's. All performances were important, but the band's resonated even more because it was the last one televised before Kurt Cobain . Both the Martin D-18E guitar and other items used during the special will be on display. The exhibition will open in June at the Royal College of Music Museum in London.
“Enter the world of Kurt Cobain and explore the legacy of Nirvana, a band that defined a generation. Explore his iconic 1993 MTV Unplugged performance, one of Nirvana’s last televised appearances before Cobain’s death just five months later. Get a close look at Cobain’s rare Martin D-18E guitar, uniquely adapted to his left-handed playing style, shaping the unmistakable sound that defined Nirvana’s music,” says the statement about the exhibition.
