Nirvana: Guitar broken by Kurt Cobain is auctioned off.

The piece was destroyed during the band's first tour.

Kurt Cobain , vocalist and guitarist of Nirvana , used to smash guitars on the band's first tour, and one of them was auctioned off last Friday, the 11th, and Saturday, the 12th. The event took place digitally and in person at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York. Businessman Darren Julien was responsible for the Icons & Idols: Rock 'N' Roll .

The guitar had previously received four bids totaling $200,000, but further details regarding its value have not yet been released. In addition to the guitar, clothing and signed albums were also among the items included in the auctioned collection from the band. Other legendary items were also auctioned, including those from Guns N' Roses and AC/DC .

The instrument in question is a 1973 Fender Mustang that Cobain broke during the tour for the band's first album, Bleach (1989), in Chicago and Wilkinsburg. It was later traded for a Gibson SG from Sluggo Cawley of the band Hullabaloo . The following message was written: “Hey Sluggo / Thanks for the trade / If it’s illegal for Rock and Roll , then throw my ass in jail / Nirvana”.

The guitar used in the MTV Unplugged performance and auctioned in June was the most expensive of all time, reaching a total of 6 million dollars.
